This is can lead to mothers choosing to abandon infants in unapproved or unsafe areas. It can also lead to abuse or neglect. It is important that women know that they have safe and legal options they can turn to for a safe surrender.

Another option is something called the Safe Haven Baby Box. The state of Indiana has 55 Safe Haven Baby Boxes installed at approved locations throughout the state.
