HOW MUCH TO PLACE MY BABY FOR ADOPTION?
Gifts of Grace adoption services are ABSOLUTELY FREE for women who are pregnant. Be sure to review the full list of free Services and Support we offer expectant parents. You may even qualify for financial assistance for living expenses related directly to your pregnancy, such as rent, groceries, maternity clothing, and counseling.
CAN I CHOOSE A FAMILY FOR MY CHILD?
Yes! Gifts of Grace allows you the option of selecting your adoptive parents, if you choose. You also have the option of getting to know them or remaining completely anonymous. Our open adoption policy allows YOU to decide what your relationship with them is like. Click here to view a sampling of some of our waiting adoptive families
HOW MUCH CONTACT CAN I HAVE WITH THE FAMILY AFTER I GIVE BIRTH?
As much or as little as you feel is best. This is entirely your decision and Gifts of Grace staff will ensure that you connect with adoptive families who have similar desires about ongoing contact. Many Birth Parents choose to receive letters and photos of their child while others communicate with the adoptive parents via phone, email, blogs, or even prearranged visits. Gifts of Grace staff will go through the various contact options with you as you determine which option is best for you and your child.
WHAT ABOUT THE CHILD’S FATHER?
If you would like to have the father of your baby participate in making an adoption plan with you, he is welcome to. If you have concerns about the birth father’s willingness to participate in your pregnancy and adoption plan, we can help you understand what rights the baby’s father will have and how to navigate the adoption process on your own.
WHAT IF THE CHILD I WANT TO PLACE FOR ADOPTION ISN’T A BABY?
Gifts of Grace staff understand the uniqueness of placing an older baby, toddler, or child for adoption and will work with you to find the best possible adoptive family for your child(ren). We will create a therapeutic transition plan to ensure everyone is transitioning well and receiving the care, support, and tools they need to thrive.
WHAT IF I USED DRUGS OR ALCOHOL DURING MY PREGNANCY?
Gifts of Grace staff can introduce you to numerous adoptive families that are comfortable adopting a baby who has been exposed to drugs or alcohol and have been specifically trained to identify and handle the potential needs or difficulties that may arise. You will be pleasantly surprised by the number of families who are waiting with open arms to parent your child.
CAN I CONNECT WITH OTHER BIRTH PARENTS?
Gifts of Grace coordinates Birth Parent Support Groups where women and couples can come together to connect, share, heal, and grow.
In addition, we have our Birth Mom Mentor program where we can connect you with a Birth Mom who has walked through similar circumstances as you are facing. Perhaps you are healing from an abortion…we have someone you can talk to. Maybe family or friends are pressuring you to parent while you believe adoption is the best option for your child…we have someone you can talk to. Maybe you have other children and wonder how they might react to your adoption decision…we have someone you can talk to. Our Birth Mom Mentors are happy to talk with and encourage you on your personal journey.
IS IT NORMAL TO BE UNSURE OF MY ADOPTION DECISION?
It is completely normal to go back and forth when deciding if adoption is the right choice for you. For many Birth Parents, feeling ‘sure’ of their decision fluctuates. It is natural to reevaluate your decision time and time again. This does not necessarily mean that you have made the wrong choice or that you will change your mind. It simply means that choosing adoption is a very difficult and complicated decision that, by its very nature, involves conflict. (Information taken in part from The Third Choice)
IF I CHOOSE ADOPTION, WHEN IS MY DECISION FINAL?
Nothing is final until you sign the adoption paperwork which typically occurs 48 hours after the birth of your child. This allows you the freedom to seek information, ask questions, and begin working with an adoption agency without fear of being ‘locked into’ an adoption plan. We are happy to meet with you and answer any questions you have. Our desire is for you to make the best, most informed decision regarding your future and the future of your child.
HOW DO I GET STARTED?
